Newborn Pictures

One of my good friends from high school recently started her own photography business. She is new to newborn photography and wanted to shoot some photos of Noah for us as 1) a gift to us and 2) a chance to practice and get more experience with little babies. You would NEVER know that Julie is new to newborn photography. Oh my gosh, the photos she took for us turned out amazing and brought me to tears the other night when I looked at all of them. Julie is an excellent photographer and we had lots of fun with her. She is very artistic and had such a good eye for unique and beautiful shots of Noah.

It is fun to look back on this day. Noah was only 6 days old, we had just experienced our fourth night at home and were oh-so-sleepy, and we were watching each other fall more and more in love with this little human being.

Oh and I just have to mention that Noah definitely wanted to give Julie a fun first newborn shoot and had no qualms peeing and pooping a number of times during the morning to make things just a bit more interesting. He also refused to sleep and was wide eyed for us the entire time.

We hope you enjoy some of our favorites from the photo shoot.

Oh, the month of June....

So, as you can see, Dan and I have been a little lazy where this blog is concerned. This has been a busy and hectic month for us, as we experienced flooding on our entire first floor (our next door neighbors had a pipe burst). Instead of writing about each and every thing we did this past month, I am just going to highlight some of our favorite moments from the last few weeks!

- Noah started smiling a LOT. Every morning he is all smiles and he smiles throughout the day whenever we talk in high voices, look in his direction, and simply make a fool out of ourselves.
- We celebrated Dan's first father's day. Noah got him an awesome photo book and new Arsenal jersey. He has learned fast what his daddy loves.
- We spent a weekend in Maryland with Dan's mom and step-dad. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in Annapolis, so Noah enjoyed lots of quality time with his grandparents. Although it definitely was hard for me to be away from him for so long--talk about a little separation anxiety...I definitely had some of it(!), Dan and I enjoyed our time together for sure. We considered the two nights of the rehearsal and wedding "date nights", and found that we quickly remembered how much we love time just the two of us. We danced the night away, enjoyed amazing food, and talked about the crazy past few months. For parents who wait months and months before they leave their baby, I would challenge them to let go of control and worry for a little bit and enjoy and hour (or a few) away. This time alone or with your partner is rejuvenating, necessary, and good for the mind. We both knew Noah would be fine and well taken care of and sure enough, he had a great time, too!
- Noah went shopping for the first time. He hit up the mall, Target, and the grocery store. He also ventured in to Home Depot to help me pick out a new light and cabinet knobs.
- I went on a lot of walks with Noah and one of my best friends, Abby. Abby lives right down the road, is off work for the summer, and is expecting her first child any day now. **She is currently one week late and is NOT a happy camper... Since it has been so hot, we walk first thing in the morning and Noah gets in his first nap of the day, while we talk about girly things.
- Noah and Dan watched a number of Orioles games together. This has become a bit of a night time routine. After he eats, Noah hangs out in his daddy's arms and drifts to sleep to the sound of Dan either cheering happily or complaining about their not-so-great 9th innings.
- We had lunch with a friend. Well, Noah slept through the lunch and I enjoyed a homemade, delish meal with my bff.
- Since we have not had a kitchen for a few weeks, we have spent some evenings at my parents house, just to get away and spend time in a warm, comfy home, since ours has been in disarray. Hanging out on the deck in the evenings has been enjoyable and relaxing for all of us.
- Also, since we have not had a kitchen (or a refrigerator for that matter--that broke, too, to make things more fun--we have been eating lots of not-good-for you snacks and meals. I'm not gonna lie. I really feel like I need to detox from all of the cereal, ice cream, and fast food. Ugh.
- I had my 6 week postpartum check up. Nothing more to share there...

I just asked the Mr. if he could think of any specific highlights over the last month and his response?...
"ALL OF IT!"

Love to all and happy 2 month birthday to our little guy.
